Standing at the edge of the Tuwaiq Escarpment, 75 kilometres northwest of Riyadh, the landscape drops away with a violence that takes your breath away. Jebel Fihrayn — known internationally as the Edge of the World — is one of the most extraordinary landscape photography locations in Saudi Arabia. The cliff face plunges up to 300 metres into the ancient valley below, and the horizontal strata of pale limestone record 300 million years of geological time in a single frame. Best Light and Camera Settings

The golden hour at Jebel Fihrayn is unlike anywhere else in Saudi Arabia. In the final 30 minutes before sunset, the low sun rakes across the cliff face from the west, carving every horizontal ledge and rock layer into a pattern of orange light and deep shadow. The valley below fills with blue-purple haze while the escarpment glows amber. Arrive at least two hours before sunset to scout the cliff edge. Use a wide angle lens between 16mm and 24mm at f/11 for maximum depth of field. A tripod is essential — the cliff edge is exposed to wind and any camera shake will ruin the fine detail in the rock strata.

Getting There and Booking a Photography Session

Drive northwest from Riyadh on King Fahd Road toward Sudair, then follow signs to Jebel Fihrayn. A 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended for the final off-road section.
